It\u2019s not weakness.<br>\r\n  It\u2019s your nervous system assessing that the safest thing to do right now is\u2014nothing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>And to know how to return from it to life, we first need to understand\u2014how it arises.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>How the freeze state arises<\/h2>\r\n  <p>The freeze state is part of our innate survival mechanism.<br>\r\n  When your brain assesses that the danger is too great to fight or flee, the body chooses a third option\u2014freezing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>We see this clearly in animals: a deer sensing a predator suddenly stiffens, almost stops breathing.<br>\r\n  If the predator gives up, the deer quickly \u201cshakes it off\u201d and moves on.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>With humans, it\u2019s different.<br>\r\n  We often don\u2019t \u201cshake off\u201d stress from our bodies. It stays deep within us and slowly becomes our way of functioning.<br>\r\n  Then the body, even in situations that aren\u2019t dangerous, reacts as if life is at risk.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>And it doesn\u2019t have to be a dramatic event\u2014it can sneak into completely ordinary moments.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>What this looks like in everyday life<\/h2>\r\n  <p>The freeze state isn\u2019t reserved only for major crises.<br>\r\n  It also appears in small things that at first glance seem unrelated to survival.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>You might notice it when:<\/p>\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li>You delay an important conversation because you feel a \u201cstone\u201d in your stomach.<\/li>\r\n    <li>You can\u2019t reply to a message that stirs up anxiety.<\/li>\r\n    <li>You feel like you\u2019re standing \u201caside\u201d from your own life.<\/li>\r\n    <li>Your body stiffens when someone raises their voice, even though you know you\u2019re not in danger.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n\r\n  <p>And that\u2019s when the question everyone eventually asks themselves arises: if I know what I want to do, why can\u2019t I get moving?<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>Why is it so hard to get moving?<\/h2>\r\n  <p>Maybe you\u2019ve heard that sentence: \u201cJust start!\u201d<br>\r\n  But when you\u2019re in a freeze state, it\u2019s like being told to \u201cwalk\u201d while your leg is still broken.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>The body isn\u2019t ready.<br>\r\n  Before it can move, it needs to feel safe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>Safety isn\u2019t just a thought\u2014it\u2019s a feeling in the body.<br>\r\n  Without it, any attempt to \u201cpush\u201d into action can result in an even deeper withdrawal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <p>That\u2019s why coming out of the freeze state is not a process of force, but of gentleness and trust.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>How to come out of the freeze state\u2014slowly and with respect<\/h2>\r\n  <p>This is a path of restoring trust between you and your body.<br>\r\n  It begins in the small things\u2014in what you can do right now, without force and without sudden leaps.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li><strong>Micro-movement<\/strong> \u2014the whole body doesn\u2019t move at once. Gently move your fingers, slowly rotate your ankles or shoulders.<\/li>\r\n    <li><strong>Contact with the present moment<\/strong> \u2014feel your feet touching the ground. Press them firmly and allow the weight of your body to sink down.<\/li>\r\n    <li><strong>Warmth<\/strong> \u2014warm your hands or feet. Freeze often comes with a sense of cold\u2014warmth helps the body \u201ccome back.\u201d<\/li>\r\n    <li><strong>A safe gaze<\/strong> \u2014look around the room for something that brings you calm and stay with that image for a few breaths.<\/li>\r\n    <li><strong>Small choices<\/strong> \u2014decide now, in this moment, something simple: which cup you will take, what you will do first after reading.<\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n\r\n  <p>Each of these steps is a message to your nervous system:<br>\r\n  \u201cIt\u2019s safe. Kod \u017eivotinja to vidimo jasno: srna koja osjeti predatora naglo se uko\u010di, gotovo prestane disati. Ako predator odustane, srna se brzo \u201cotresa\u201d i nastavi dalje. Kod ljudi je druk\u010dije. \u010cesto ne \u201cotresamo\u201d stres iz tijela. On ostane negdje duboko u nama i polako postaje na\u0161 na\u010din funkcioniranja. Tada tijelo, \u010dak i u situacijama koje nisu opasne, reagira kao da je \u017eivot ugro\u017een. I to ne mora biti dramati\u010dan doga\u0111aj \u2013 mo\u017ee se uvu\u0107i u sasvim obi\u010dne trenutke. Kako to izgleda u svakodnevnom \u017eivotu Freeze nije rezerviran samo za velike krize. Pojavljuje se i u sitnicama koje na prvi pogled nemaju veze s pre\u017eivljavanjem. Mo\u017eda ga prepoznaje\u0161 kada: Odga\u0111a\u0161 va\u017ean razgovor jer osje\u0107a\u0161 \u201ckamen\u201d u \u017eelucu. Ne mo\u017ee\u0161 odgovoriti na poruku koja ti budi tjeskobu. Ima\u0161 osje\u0107aj da stoji\u0161 \u201csa strane\u201d svog vlastitog \u017eivota. Tijelo ti se uko\u010di kad netko povisi glas, iako zna\u0161 da nisi u opasnosti. I tu se javlja pitanje koje svi kad-tad postave sebi: ako znam \u0161to \u017eelim napraviti, za\u0161to se ne mogu pokrenuti? Za\u0161to je tako te\u0161ko pokrenuti se Mo\u017eda si \u010duo\/la onu re\u010denicu: &#8220;Samo kreni!&#8221; Ali kad si u freezeu, to je kao da ti netko ka\u017ee da \u201cprohoda\u0161\u201d dok ti je noga jo\u0161 slomljena. Tijelo nije spremno. Prije nego \u0161to se pokrene, mora osjetiti da je sigurno. Sigurnost nije samo misao \u2013 to je osje\u0107aj u tijelu. Bez toga, svaki poku\u0161aj \u201cgurkanja\u201d prema akciji mo\u017ee zavr\u0161iti jo\u0161 dubljim povla\u010denjem. Freeze \u010desto dolazi s osje\u0107ajem hladno\u0107e \u2013 toplina poma\u017ee tijelu da se \u201cvrati\u201d. Siguran pogled \u2013 potra\u017ei u prostoriji ne\u0161to \u0161to ti budi mir i ostani s tim prizorom nekoliko udaha.
